There are so many amazing books out there, but sadly I can’t have them all on a student budget. Here are just a few books I want to buy over the next few weeks!
Crown of Midnight – Sarah J. Maas
I devoured the first one (Throne of Glass) and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second! Unfortunately, my sister has commandeered it and I have to wait until she is done! The first is a great story though – set in a medieval-esque world, the protagonist is a female assassin – how could this not be enjoyable? It was a highly entertaining book with just the right mix of magic, romance and death.
Days of Blood and Starlight – Laini Taylor
I read the first book in this series (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) in a day. It is an addictive story – an interesting take on the angel/demon dynamic. I am planning to write a proper review on this book, but just want to delve back into this fantastic world as soon as possible!
If I Stay – Gayle Forman
I have heard quite a bit about this on tumblr and it is also coming out as a movie pretty soon. It’s a story about a girl in a coma, having to make the decision between life and death. I tend to enjoy stories like this and with all the rave reviews, I definitely want to grab this one before the film comes out!
Four – Veronica Roth
Another book in the highly intriguing world of ‘Divergent’. Not normally a fan of spin-offs but I loved the setting of Roth’s series to want to read this one too. It’s not a book as such, but a collection of short stories concerning the different periods in Tobias’ life and the choices he has to make.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer – Michelle Hodkin
In a bit of a YA phase – I know I should try some adult fiction for a break but there are too many great, easy reads in the realm of young adult. And according to the Internet, this seems to be one of them. A lot of quotes from this book I have seen floating around resonate with me so I’m really keen to give it a try. No idea what to expect really – my tumblr feed loves it but the first page of Goodreads not so much. The blurb isn’t a big giveaway either….
Not That Kind of Girl – Lena Dunham
Well, I won’t be getting this one before the end of the holidays! It still has 84 days to go before release. Lena Dunham has been touted as the voice of a generation so I wouldn’t mind discovering what all the fuss is about. Plus, I did enjoy the first season of her show ‘Girls’ – need to pick that up again…. According to the teasers on Goodreads, it is set to be very funny and well worth the wait. I do need to read something aimed at adults too…..
Comment below what books you’re planning to purchase – I’d love to know what it is you’re looking forward to reading!
