August Wrap-Up

August Wrap-Up

What a month! Somehow, I have managed to write 14 blog posts, read 25 books AND stay on top of all my uni work! It’s finally coming together! And I have managed to score an AWESOME internship, where reading is part of the job description – more on that later!

With the LoveOzYA grassroots movement gaining momentum this month, I was drawn to many more Australian young adult titles. Two great articles about this movement come from the Sydney Morning Herald and Kill Your Darlings. It is a really great way to get young Australians enthusiastic about the works coming from their own country!

I didn’t read anything from the Dymocks101 this month (unless you count 50 pages of Les Miserables, which is less than 3% of that enormous tome!) – hopefully I’ll still be able to finish before the end of the year! December might get a little busy….

I also made it to two MARVELLOUS bookish events this month. The launch of Kate Forsyth‘s beautiful The Beast’s Garden at Mosman Library and the launch of Mitchell Hogan‘s unique fantasy Crucible of Souls at Galaxy Bookshop. It was so much fun to mingle with other book lovers!

Definite highlights have been Queen of Shadows (please read this series if you haven’t already!!!) and The Martian. I made an effort to read some Australian prize winners as well – I loved The Strays, winner of the 2015 Stella Prize, but wasn’t such a fan of The Eye of the Sheep, winner of the 2015 Miles Franklin award.

This month, I’d like to make more of an effort throughout the month to take pretty photographs both for my Instagram account and for my blog! Plus, get a move on with my Dymocks101 Challenge!
