I think I might have divided my weeks up a bit weirdly – June doesn’t have five weeks does it? Oh well! Hahaha – six books this week: staying on top of the TBR (JUST!). Favourites were Wild Beauty, Out of Heart and The Circle. I also really enjoyed All The Crooked Saints, but it took me a while to get used to Maggie Stiefvater’s writing – it was my first read by her!
The Pier Falls – Mark Haddon (3 stars)
I really like short story collections and this one was fabulous! I loved the title story, The Pier Falls and the final offering, The Weir – is it weird that my favourites focused so heavily on the idea of death? I also enjoyed The Woodpecker and the Wolf, about a failed expedition to Mars! Plus The Island, about Ariadne, who was abandoned by Theseus in Greek myth. But there were also some super strange ones, hence the three-star raring…

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews where book enthusiasts can show off their newest additions to their collection!
This week has been the most amazing haul week EVER, even despite the fact I have now added 13 new books to my TBR! My best friend is in America at the moment, and she attended BEA. Because she ended up with 55 (!!!) new books in total, she sent some home. And some of those have been sent via my house so that I can read them too!!! I also received one book from work, Editing Emma.
Please note that these books have been loaned to me. I will not be entering into ANY discussion about trading them, as they are not my books to trade. Thank you! 🙂
- Editing Emma – Chloe Seager
I was told that the voice in this book was very funny, and that I might appreciate how true to life the story feels. I’ve already read it, so look out for my recap tomorrow!
- Magic Misfits – Neil Patrick Harris
