Weekly Recap August 2017 #2

Not the most successful week – only three books… Alexander Hamilton was not only dense non-fiction, but also incredibly hefty at 818 pages. The other two I managed were both graphic novels. I was very tempted to give up on Alexander Hamilton, but I’m glad I didn’t – it was super interesting and I feel very accomplished!

The Wicked + The Divine: Imperial Phase I – Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Matthew Wilson, Clayton Cowles (4 stars)

I have been a bit obsessed with The Wicked + The Divine. I liked that this one had profiles on each of the remaining gods, though it was unexpected to have so many words! Still a fantastic graphic novel series that I highly recommend to everybody.

Soooooo, I went completely and utterly overboard this week…. OOPS! 18 new books! Not entirely sure when I am going to find the time to read them all! What are your best reading tips???

Harry Potter:

  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Gryffindor – J. K. Rowling
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Slytherin – J. K. Rowling
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Hufflepuff – J. K. Rowling

I may have ordered myself all the paperbacks…. Hehehehe! Unfortunately, my house (Ravenclaw) is the only one that didn’t arrive this week! They’re so pretty, but I am seriously going to need a new bookshelf to fill entirely with Harry Potters.

  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – J. K. Rowling

ANOTHER edition! I love these slipcase editions. The final two should be in my hands sometime in the very, very near future! *party*

WOAH. I may have gone overboard to the extreme this week… How did I get up to 19 new books??? Oops… There was quite a bit of book shopping, and I got some ARCs sent to me by publishers. But seriously, from now on, I need to stop the purchasing. I am drowning in books. I need to make a rule that I can only get one new book for every 10 books I read. And I have to unhaul regularly.

Allen & Unwin:

  • How to Bee – Bren MacDibble
  • And Then You’re Dead – Cody Cassidy & Paul Doherty
  • Spellslinger – Sebastian de Castell

The wonderful people at Allen&Unwin sent me these beauties! I’m excited about And Then You’re Dead – it’s all about the world’s most interesting ways to die! Confronting mortality, much? How to Bee looks pretty intriguing – it’s set in a dystopian Australia where bees have died out and children pollinate flowers by hand. And I’ve heard a lot about Spellslinger and am very excited to formulate my own opinions.
